3POINT8 support Earth Hour 2008 by going BLACK

Earth Hour is an international event that asks households and businesses to turn off their lights and non-essential electrical appliances for one hour on the evening of 29 March at 8 pm local time until 9 pm to promote electricity conservation and thus lower carbon emissions. [source]

Reason why my blog is going black for a day is explained here @ Blackle.
[For those who are lazy to read the link, let me summarize the story for you. WHITE consume up to 50% more electricity on CRT monitor as compared to BLACK.]

3POINT8 is going black for a day! [till 31stMarch]
I know Earth Hour 2008 was yesterday. I admit, I missed that, But I'd still like to do the whole world a favor for a day.

Updated:
ccchai pointed out on Google goes Black. However, its only applicable to US and Isreal.
Puvanan added that Google in UK goes Black out too.
This site reported that Black increases electricity consumption, contrary to Blackle's claim.
[Since I do not know which is true, I'll just make the change to make people aware of current environmental issue]
My Blog has been reverted back to the normal White/Black Background.

i thought australia waas the first country to suggest to turn off their electrical things few years ago. i'm not sure if that's applicable in malaysia... since so many of us are so ignorant.

Bah, one hour isn't enough! A little electricity might be saved but what happens after that? More electricity gets used than what was actually conserved.

This is almost like having lovey dovey feelings on Valentine's day and everything going sour the next. I don't have a real solution though, we can't be living in the dark ALL the time. Make sure to turn off stuff when you're not using it?

Next up, save petrol, the water and the trees!

BYE!

p.s. Wasn't your site always black? LOL.. I know! This is an April's Fool thing!! :P

check this link out...no flamming here..

It stated for LCD turning the background in black will not reduce energy consumption. As stated,CRT and LCD uses different amount of energy to produce black screen.

Hmm...now what??what is the screen saver for nowadays??for display and heat up your laptop on purpose. Sweat = =''

If there is an effort in helping the world, its good enough. you don't have to stress yourself.

[Aronil]
Ahaha. Thanks for the comment. I like this planet alot. So, I guess I should do something to return the favor.

[renaye]
This kind of stuff is getting more publicity. SO, I'm hoping M'sia and other countries would join in next year.

[usws]
True. But this event is good in a sense that it spreads the awareness about electricity usage to the whole world. The point is not so much on saving electricity but rather to spread awareness about it

Yup. We should all do our best to keep the planet alive for as long as possible

[Chingy]
Its alright. Just remember to turn it off when you don't need to use it.

[Christopher]
OO, you actually went and find out whether aus was the 1st one to do it. Nice. Btw, I did my part too! I went out to a bar. Ahahaha

[YM]

Relax relax. I'm not gonna flame anyone. If I want to write about someone, I'll ask them for their permission 1st.
Erm....Back in the old days, screen saver was used to prevent colour burn on monitors. Nowadays, colour burn is not an issue anymore as monitors are getting better and better. And I guess the idea of screensaver remained coz its a pretty cool function!

[Jan]
Kudos! You deserve a clap. Its good to hear that people are acutally participating in this event.
