The fool who thinks he is a fool is for that very reason a wise man; But the fool who thinks he is a wise man is rightly called a fool.-Dhammapada 63
"It makes sense!! We should all be humble"
5 seconds later:
"Wait, whatever happened to [If you think you can, you can!]."
"Doesn't that mean that you become of what you think you are??"
"Doesn't that mean that we shape our reality through our thoughts??"
"If you think that you are a fool, what does it become of you??"
What do you think??

i think... they both have different purposes. the one talks about being humble so that people wont boast about them having wisdom,
while the others talks about encouragement...
Does that mean that you can't combine the 2 principles together??
Like, lets just say that you have belief that "depression is bad for you"... I'm sure most people would agree to this..coz depression is just bad..
And lets just say that u have another belief "Any experience is a good experience". Coz anything that u experience helps you grow..
So then, depression as an experience...Is that a good thing or a bad thing??
Or am I asking something absurb that is out of the topic??
when u have alot of things to do, workload that u THINK u cant finish it, u'll always have 2 choices: believe that u can conquer them all, or get depressed.
So when u try ur best not to 'fall' unto depression (stress), that's how u get experience. cos that means u know how to handle it right.
well.. i dunno lah.. i hope u get what i mean...
Ooo...
Thats 1 perspective of viewing it... It's funny that I have not thought of it that way before..
wait...is this how you interpret the meaning of experience??
Experience: Knowing how to handle 'it' right (whatever that is)??
Somehow somehow I think i get the rough idea on what you are trying to say...
(Haha, I still got a long long way to understand ppl)
hmm.. i guess so.. experience is knowing how to handle it right (probably it's one of the definition of it). U know when u have gone through something and u successfully manage it, and then someone told u, "walau, my workload is blo*dy crazy", then u will say, "dont worry, i've pass through it before", "OH? how did u do it?" and then u'll tell that person ur stories...
that's an experience.. rite? lol~ dunnoooo ~_~
yup...that is considered as an experience...
hahaha, for some reason, I rather be listening to other ppl's experience more than telling my own story...
I just find people interesting... Everyone has their own story. And I always have this mindset that their experiences are way much more 'interesting'...
