Personality changed by Blog Templates

"Where there is light, darkness cannot exist"
----3POINT8----

What we see... changes us without us noticing.
Its true! [Most blackboards used in school are actually green. Looking at something green is claimed to bring a calming effect on the human mind.] [Red on the other hand is an attention seeker. It symbolizes something important. However the downside of it is that Red drains your energy if you look at it for too long.]

I had some time off today. So, I looked back at my previous posts to see how much I've changed. From there, I noticed something:

For the past 3months, my post are getting deeper and deeper. Also, I tend to twist a common belief towards an issue hoping to reveal the 'other' side of the coin to all my readers.

And I was thinking... How did i turn up to think like that? No one taught me how to twist a fact nor was I trained to perceive beyond the sphere.
I'm suspecting that it could be my blog template that is slowly changing my thinking.
This is how I interpret my blog template:
Containing all the main points, all my post are written on a white sheet. Surrounding the white sheet are black sections that briefly describe the blog.

Its like saying, this blog is inherently dark in nature, where as the white core is the beacon of light, an exact opposite to the dark mysterious black section. Another way of putting is; seeing light and darkness at the same time.
[It always gives me the impression as if I'm crawling out from a deep tunnel with a slight hint of daylight.] Some may interpret it as a slight hint of hope in a hopeless situation, some may interpret it as good within evil. Either way, there is always a twist in the current situation.

Initially, I tried to create something that reflects my personality. But in the end, its my own creation that is shaping my personality.
[Yup, You will find none other template like this cause I created this template on Dec2007. My post before 2008 were mostly personal post. After the template change, my posts were somewhat sarcastic in Feb2008~Apr2008.]

Kinda Freaky eh?

Question to bloggers out there:
Do you believe that blog templates has the power to change the blog owner's personality?

[Top Comment by Kamigoroshi]
I can relate to this because I just completely changed the colour scheme of my blog yesterday.
I think that the way our blog looks is divided into two aspects. Who we are and how we feel. The theme itself doesn't influence who we are, but it does influence the way we write on our blogs. For a personal blog at least, it influences what aspects of our lives we choose to share with the world.
So this is my take on it. Who we are, influences the general layout of the blog. Whether it be practical or aesthetically pleasing. It's who you are. There is a reason why you place things there. Those motives are dictated by you.
What we feel, influences the colour of the blog. Light, dark, warm, cold, slate, contrast. That will indirectly affect the mood of not just you, but your readers as well. It is that mood sets the tone of how we accept what's been written.
So no. I don't think the layout changes us because at the end of it. Our blogs are the reflection of who we are and what we want to show the world. Changing a theme could easily be slipping into some new clothes that you always wanted to wear.
Truth is...you have changed. So at the end of it. Your blog changes with you.

I've always thought it was the other way around:

To use a blogskin/template because we feel it fits us. If I like where my writtings are appearing, I would be more encouraged.

Should it influence us any further, I don't really know how to think about it. Though, I do feel more inclined to the side that it does not.

I guess I'll have to read more into your blog to see the change.

PS: Hahaha, so cute, your first post xD

"hi

i'm new!"

My personality decides my blog templates, instead of changed by my blog temlate. =D

IN my point of view, I don't think that the blog template (the colour, the style, the design and etc) will shape a person's personality. Maybe there some possibility but It's mostly depend on the owner him/herself. Starting from how he perceive things, how he feels, his motive and etc.

From that changes in the blogger, the way he blog will change eventually. Shall I say.. it's a process of learning?
(It's like what nikkiko written here)

On the other hand, I truly believe that a blog template will effect the readers. The way they feel about your posts, your personality and behaviour will be effected indirectly by the colour of your blog. For example, while I read your blog I feel that you're kinda mystery.. haha..

Btw, I shall add this. Why I say the owner of the blog himself are not being effected with his/hers blog template that much? Because when we blog, we blog in a white background before we publish the post right? ;D

I like this post. It makes me think. Thank you... ;)

i think that the color of the blog will change ur mood, but not personality i guess... well, i would think is not the blog that shaping ur personality, just that maybe after typing a lot, u have a lot to think of, and it may bring u to a state of confusion and thinking, and also lead you to another state of self awareness :D

Hm... I think it's the other way round too. You pick a blog template because you like it, don't you?

Mrs Chong said...

I think it's not that you changed because of your template. You designed it first right? Then only you started writing like this. So as what other's said, it's the other way round. You have already changed through time without realizing it. Then reading back your post, you thought, "hey, I am beginning to be like what my template seems to be."

You get what I mean? I could be wrong though.

nope! lol

interesting point on how things can affect us unintentional :) btw yr blog blog template is cool :)

I don't believe or agree with that question.
Template changing your personality? I would say that is just one of the self fulfilling prophecy cases you're having, where you thought it is true, and ended up acting like it is true.

I find myself not being able to blog properly with the wrong template on my blog. So yea, the template influences my writings a lot.

I agree with you, template does affects your personality. For example John Chow, his blog is so professional and convinced people that he really make money online.

perhaps perhaps.
but the "genre" of the bloggers' writings decided on the blog template and thus, that's how the words are poured :)

Thanks for the compliment. And thanks for the continuing support ya! I'll be sure to return the favour

[pinksterz]
Thinking is one way of preveting Alzheimer's disease yes?

[Tekkaus]
Thanks for the compliment. I guess I'll be sticking to this template for a long time then.

[popjammerz]
Yay! Thanks for the support ya, rue-hann! Muakz!

[Serene]
Yea. Most probably its that I've changed. But the possibility of blog templates changing a person's personality is something no one ventured before. And I'm just curious.

[SilverIsle]
True. Thats how it works for most people.

[curryegg]
Hey Kelly! I love the way you comment! The argument is laid out in a very good way.
When I publish my post, I spend alot of time reading my blogpost over and over again with that blog template. Do you think that could affect me in any way? Is there anything in your psychology class that would come in useful in this matter?
Haha, sometimes when I read my own blogpost, I feel that kind of mysterious feel too. Its as if the person behind the blog is not me at all.

[Jan]
Hmm... What you wrote makes sense. It could be that too. I didn't thought of it that way. Perhaps you are right.

[sharon]
I suppose so. I'm stuck with this template because I have little knowledge on how to make it better. :P

[Ping Ping]
I get a rough idea on what you are talking about. Yea, that could be it too. Its just that I couldn't stop thinking the possibility of a blog template slowly shaping my thought structure. Think about it, I've been staring at the same blog template for a long period of time. Certainly that affects something, yes?

[waterlily]
Nice, short simple answer.

[QuaChee]
Thanks quachee! Yea, when the idea first came to my mind, I was quite fascinated by it too.

[Hwei Cheng]
Self fufilling prophecy. Sounds just like how coincidence works. there are no such thing as coincidence if there is a thing like self-fulfilling prophecy, yes?

[Andy]
finally, a like minded blogger.
Heee~~~

[Kamigoroshi]
Hehey! This is a very thought out argument! I love comments such as these. Your argument is flawless!
Divided into 2 aspects: "Who we are and how we feel" No wonder sometimes I feel differently while reading the same article in 2 totally different blogs. There are blogs that subconsciously makes me read faster while some just ticks me off as I have to strain my eyes.

[Felex Tan]
Haha. So, does he make that much money as people claimed?

[Fara]
genre of bloggers? Mind explaining more on this? I'm really curious about the idea that you have there.

curryegg said...

Haha.. 3point8... As Kamigoroshi has pointed out, it's true as well. And I agree that when we change, the blog change with us too. Take for example, I'm now too concern with news of the disasters in Burma and China. So, I no longer feel that my previous banner and the colour is suitable for my feeling when I'm joining the morning. When my emotional change, my cognitive change and finally my behaviour. If these 3 factors are superorior, then it'll lead to changes in personality.

a) Emotional = Sad, depress, upset, disappointed, sympathy
b) Cognitive = my perception: Life is everything.
c) Behaviour = Change the way I blog, organizing campaign
d) Personality = More caring, loving, responsible and etc..

That's mean I personally change from a>b>c>d

Different people have different reason in changing their personality according to Psychology. Well the above explanation is base on my own observation and some psychology theory. Haha..

My Conclusion: An individual's personality is not affected by colour but it will effect the mood.. ;)

p/s: I'm getting so excited with this. Thank again!

I think this post is the post with most concrete and substance-filled comments of all~ :)

Normally I will change the blog template to suit myself as the blogger. But sometimes when you open the blog (esp for ppl like me who blog occassionally nowadays), the blog colour will affect my mood of writings, but it is the same on a new posting template, so not much differences....

Ok, I sound contradictary... should go back and work :P

Nikkiko said...

aw. reading your blog's a pleasure, which doesn't need to be a returnable favour ;P

What a coincidence, i changed my blog template a few days back.So how do you comprehend the change with the change of my nature?

Joanne Gaw! said...

Hah. Seems true though. My posts are lamer since i change my template. Hmmm i wonder.

I think it's the other way around. Anyway, you really do think too much. But that's a nice explanation of your template. :P

Wow! From the way you write, I got more question to ask the wise ms.Kelly. Guess I'll ask you over msn. [I'm just curious if its possible for someone's living in a happy mood all the time to change him from a having a logical personality to a more perceptive one]

[popjammerz]
Ya. I also think so.
Thanks to you guys who made me think so much. I love comments like these. I'll be sure to return the favour soon. Thank you ms.rue-hann

[Eileen]
Wha, the way you write sounds so confusing. Yaya, go back and work. Later your boss marah you pulak.
:P
Heee~~~

[Nikkiko]
Wow. This is the 1st time I heard someone said something like that. You are pretty different thinking compared to others your age, don't you think so?

[Enigma]
Er...the change of your blog. I can't comment anything about it. (Coz I don't even remember how your previous blog template looks like. Forgive me ya.) But judging from the current template, you look like a simple person. Let me guess, your room is definitely a very neat one, yes?

[joanne]
Ahahaha. Wanna change back to your old template?

[宝茹]
Its good to think. Its a good way to prevent Alzheimer's disease, especially for male since male are more prone to Alzheimer.
Also, thanks for the compliment ya!

Not 100% correct...we lucky that we have normal eye sight...or else we will be in darkness the age.

Hmm, im still new to ur blog...so hard for me to comment on this issue.

In my opinion, change in personality may bring change to the blog template & contents too. So we may hard to say if template change u or u change the template.

But one thing for sure, my have a change in thinking & mindset. I still stick to my blog "everything is changing, the only thing that being change is changing itself"...:D
