Devil's Claw

I wonder...Out of so many people living in this world, how many percent of them are actually superstitious, still believing in myths and folklore.

Yesterday morning, I woke up with 5 scratch marks on my left arm. No, rather than a minor scratch mark, it's more like a claw mark. Its just like being scratched by a cat's claw. I didn't realise it until 1~2 hours after I woke up. I was in front of my computer trying to finish 1 of my 8 assignments which all of them are due in the next 2 weeks. While I typing, I felt irritated by my left arm. I didn't really look into it as I was too focused on my assignment and I was wearing a long sleeve shirt that day. I don't usually bother with stuff that are not in my sight.

Then as I proceed with my typing, more than irritation, I felt pain. That is when I rolled up my sleeve and discovered 5 'claw marks' on my left arm. I was kinda busy at that moment to think about it. So I continued typing anyway.

Minutes later, there was this black bird sitting on a branch of a dead tree just outside my window. I have no idea whether the bird was singing or it was cursing. I just find it weird that a bird is actually sitting on a branch in this cold weather. Then I thought about the claw mark again. I was thinking "where did i get this mark from??"
I don't recall being scratched the day before. I don't remember going to bed with pain bearing on my left arm the night before. And the probability that I scratch myself in my sleep is close to zero. Plus, I was wearing a long sleeve shirt to bed. Even if i scratch myself, it shouldn't leave that kind of mark....

I began to ponder...The Devil's claw perhaps?? Or is that the work of Freddy Krueger?
And the black bird outside....is just another bird not worthy of my attention.
[Hey, at least there is something to take my mind off work]

As of today, it's pretty much healed. About 80% I would say. Looking back at the claw mark, I kinda like the mark. The way it is shaped looks kinda cool!!!

Buddhist Wisdom

I received this in my mail 5mins ago from my mum. The content of the mail is 1 short line of wisdom. I think this is the first time that my mum ever sends a line of wisdom to me.
The fool who thinks he is a fool is for that very reason a wise man; But the fool who thinks he is a wise man is rightly called a fool.
-Dhammapada 63
I was thinking:
"It makes sense!! We should all be humble"

5 seconds later:
"Wait, whatever happened to [If you think you can, you can!]."
"Doesn't that mean that you become of what you think you are??"
"Doesn't that mean that we shape our reality through our thoughts??"
"If you think that you are a fool, what does it become of you??"

What do you think??

[Updated] UNSW Asia close down

They said that the enrolment in UNSW is not up to their expectation. Some said that UNSW asia slowly declining UNSw performance. Some felt that the UNSW asia is slowly draining the some of the experienced lecturers away from the main UNSW. For that reason, UNSW asia is gonna be closed down.

UNSW asia was built singapore. I guess this project started 1-2years ago and the institution started its business this year not long ago. Funny thing is that UNSW asia was operational for 1 session and it got closed down.
I wonder whats gonna happen to the unfortunate students who studied there for that particular bleak session.. Will their effort go to waste?? Will their money magically dissapear to somewhere else??
Gee, I guess it must be tough for them.

They'll be like:
"What the hell?? I've spend aussie dollars studying in singapore hoping to get a prestigious degree in 3 years and all of the sudden you are telling me that UNSW asia is not gonna be operational anymore?? Man, I can't afford to travel all the way to australia. Hey dude, what are you going to do?? FLICK off education??"

[Updated]
Erm.... I may have misread the article. Looks like those students might just be the few luckiest person around in the world. According to the article, scholarships, and travel concession will be given to these students.

I guess they'll be like:
"Dude, I'm sponsored to Australia!!! I heard that UNSW is gonna give us a big big discount on airfare and accomodation fares in australia. Now now, why does this reminds me of the super big MegaSale event in M'sia?? Oh well, I should have convinced more of my friends to join UNSW Asia!!"

Reasons for sleeping and waking up early

***I got this from my mail sometime ago, and I thought that I might want to share this...
I wonder how true is this...***

Think this makes a lot of sense

Reasons for sleeping and waking up early.

Evening at 9 - 11pm :
is the time for eliminating unnecessary/toxic chemicals (detoxification) from the antibody system (lymph nodes). This time duration should be spent by relaxing or listening to music. If during this time a housewife is still in an unrelaxed state such as washing the dishes or monitoring children doing their homework, this will have a negative impact on health.

Evening at 11pm - 1am:
is the detoxification process in the liver, and ideally should be done in a deep sleep state.

Early morning 1 - 3am:
detoxification process in the gall, also ideally done in a deep sleep state.

Early morning 3 - 5am: detoxification in the lungs. Therefore there will sometimes be a severe cough for cough sufferers during this time. Since the detoxification process had reached the respiratory tract, there is no need to take cough medicine so as not to
interfere with toxin removal process.

Morning 5 - 7am:
detoxification in the colon, you should empty your bowel.

Morning 7 - 9am:
absorption of nutrients in the small intestine, you should be having breakfast at this time. Breakfast should be earlier, before 6:30am, for those who are sick. Breakfast before 7:30am is very beneficial to those wanting to stay fit. Those who always skip breakfast, they should change their habits, and it is still better to eat breakfast late until 9 - 10am rather than no meal at all.

Sleeping so late and waking up too late will disrupt the process of removing unnecessary chemicals. Aside from that, midnight to 4:00 am is the time when the bone marrow produces blood. Therefore, have a good sleep and don't sleep late.

10 things you didn't know about me

LayPoh Tagged me!!!
10 things you didn't know about me...
  1. When I was a kid, if I swim too close to the edge of the swimming pool, I'll start to shiver thinking the pool-owner may open a hidden cage filled with sharks. Back then, I was always on the look out for sharks and hidden cages within the walls.
  2. No matter how hard i try, I can't look someone in the eyes. It's something I've been working on for quite a few years and I still can't do it. I'm afraid that they would think that I'm invading their personal space.
  3. I've always wanted to critisize ppl to see if they'll still be my friend at the end of the day. The thing is that I only do that if I'm 100% sure that he'd still be my friend at the end. So yea, the moment I critisize someone is when I highly regard them as a friend.
  4. I've been exposed to Buddhism and Christianity. I go for caregroup (or cellgroup) almost every week. Sometimes I go for dharmma classes. Ironic thing is...I want nothing to do with God. I like people to explain religious stuff to me and what they think about it. I like being informed abut religous facts. But if you are trying to get me into it, GoodLuck. None has ever talked me into it yet.
  5. I highly regard myself as an artist! I can't draw, I can't make beautiful artworks but I love looking at artworks and I love to listen to abstract music (haha, actually more to game music, movie music and instrumental music. Just music, no singing, no vocal. Just music) And for that reason, I call myself an artist.
  6. I am often mesmerise by a smile more than a pretty face. Well, pretty faces work well too...ehehe... But, A smile is good enough. :) [I like YY's, and lissya's smile]
  7. I respect those who are active in charity work, normal people who are willing to work their ass off for people far more deserving for little or no reward at all. However, I do not believe in monetary donations. I rather not help a person than falling into a scam that funds a mafia boss.
  8. I love people who called just to ask: "How are you doing!". You know why?? Coz it feels good and I have an unusual fear of calling people. My phone is there to receive calls and to make emergency calls. I seldom use it to make a call. Everytime before a call, I would imagine a 2-line conversation that ends in 10secs. That alone is enough to discourage me from calling anybody. (I'm envious of my roommate who is always on the phone 24-7)
  9. I always love people who speaks their mind and fools around, one who is not afraid of being a joker. I like to see people who are alive!!! They just bring life everywhere to everyone. [People like: Lissya, Phoebe Wong, Mei Yan, Kenneth Khaw, Sh Yang, Yu Ang, LiYi, Eunice and Ryndy.]
  10. Lastly, Those who knows me thinks that I'm smart. They are probably right!!! Oh, if you do not know who am I or anything about me.....FYI, I'm also kind, open-minded, generous, witty, sociable and all the good things you can imagine about Bill Gates. :)
As a bonus, The 11th thing:
I like to present the truth as a Lie. I'm kinda proud of myself when someone comments that they can't tell if i'm telling the truth or a lie. I don't usually lie, but often I like to present the truth as a lie. I guess it's kind of an ego thing. I always imagined how good it would feel to say: "Ha! I told you so!! Why didn't you believe me back then?? Dai sei lor!!"...Hehe, something like that. Anyway, If u can spot the difference between a lie and an exagerration in this blog, you are good!!!

Thank you LayPoh for tagging me. I ran out of stuff to write and this is the perfect excuse to update my blog.

Doc got sued by saving life

If a certified doctor tells you that you only have 2months to live, what would you do? Would you call for a lawyer, prepare a will??
Would you try some cocaine and get high at least once before you leave for the world??
Would you try to hijack the pentagon and launch a nuclear bomb on Iraq??
Or, would you just spend your money and enjoy yourself till the end??

I guess this guy chose the last option.. A wise move I would say..
What do you MEAN I'm not going to die?

Doc: "Hey I have some good news for you!!"
Patient: "Thats good!! I've been expecting for the worst ever since the last time we met."
Doc: "You know about the pancreatic cancer we've told you about??"
Patient: "Let me guess...Am I eligible to donate my pancreas to my annoying neighbour whom I'm trying to poison this morning??"
Doc: "My good sir...Thats double good news to you!!! Lucky for you, we do have an extra organ donation form here in my office."
Doc: "Aaaaa....Thats not it!! I think you are blessed by the constellation stars today!"
Patient: "Doc Doc Doc....Mind you words, my religion does not allow me to believe in such nonsense. Don't worry about it, it's not like I care about it or something like that. I'm gonna die anyway."
Doc: "Oh..ok... All I'm trying to tell you that today is your lucky day! Guess what?? You have a second chance in life! Apparently, we've misdiagnose you. The Pancreas Cancer that you have...is actually an inflammation of the pancreas. Nothing life-threatening."
*Patient looks at Doc in a disbelief state*
Doc: "Awww....You want a hug?? I bet you are 1 happy man by now!!"
*Patient thinks for a while*
Patient: "That's it!!! I'm gonna sue you!! See you in court!!"
*Doc thinks to himself.. Hugging must be a big crime in London. This country blows.. I'm going back to Russia for good!!*

That is how I would have imagined the conversation between the patient and the doc the 1st time I read the article.
I'm not sure if that guy did sue the hospital or something, but it'll be ironic if he did.

Metal Rock Songs

Metal Rock songs. If you are from m'sia, anyone would automatically asociate that genre with cults and underground events... I'm not sure how it goes for Aus, Indonesia, Japan or any other country. (Perhaps someone can provide me a lil bit of insight of metal rock towards the society of these countries??)
However I do know that not a lot of people I know favour that kind of music. It's loud, sounds hectic, and "cult-ic". Yea, I can understand why people do not like it...

Me??
I'm beggining to develop a liking for certain metal rock bands.
Daisuke Ishiwatari, A.S.H, N.EX.T, and Black magus. Those are the artist that I'm currently listening to. To put it bluntly, they compose songs for the Guilty Gear Series and Final Fantasy Series.

These songs, the ones that I listen to has no vocal nor singing in the background. They are all instrumental musics... Contrary to popular belief, these musics that I listen to do not contain any element referencing to satan, devil, evil, crime, discrimination, death, or anything fanatic. Not even a slight hint of those elements.

Fast pace game musics... Just the perfect ambient to get my brain working...
What kind of music turns you on???

Swim 3462miles

3462miles = 5571km
If you can fly, that'll be the best solution.
If you want to drive for that distance, be my guest.
If you want to run, you must be thinking of doing it for the cancer foundation or something like that.
If you want to walk, I'd say that is how people used to do things 5000years ago.
If you want to crawl, hhmmm....I don't think anyone will do that.
And if you want to SWIM, you must be crazy!!
[If you are thinking about it, Be my friend!! we'll swim together!!]

But wait, swimming an ocean away doesn't seemed to be a bad idea. After all, it's a mode of transportation as recommended by Google.

There there...Look at this...

[NLP] Open Hand Gesture

I've just mastered the Open Hand Gesture. Now, it comes to me automatically without having much thought about it.

Wondering what is the Open Hand Gesture??
As the name imply, it is just an action where you open up your hands and sho your palm to the person that you are interacting with. Well, its a body language telling other that you are open and have an open opinion about what others have to say.
The open hands combined with the open palms facing upwards is one of the best technique telling somebody that you want to find out more about they are talking about. At the same time, it somehow gives the feeling to other party that you are expecting him to speak more about a topic that he'd be dying to tell someone.

This is a very good technique for someone like me who doesn't have much to talk about. Everytime I do that gesture while someone is talking to me, that person will usually talk longer than he had to. Whenever that guy is done talking, do that again, and that person will automatically elaborate on the subject without having to feel that he/she is talking to an ignorant idoit. You know sometimes when you don't understand something and you want a person to elaborate a point, they'll feel a lil bit irritated and frustated talking to an idiot who doesn't 'click' with them. But with the use of this simple open hand gesture, that irritation is magically removed. It somehow somehow delivers the message into their subconscious. That my friend, is the beauty of body language. Plus this gesture removes the feeling that you might be hiding something whether it be a thing or a thought.

This gesture is actually quite fun to play around with. Use it and more often people will start to continue a conversation that is about to die off. However this gesture has to be subtle by slowly placing your hands in a position with the palms open.

This gesture actually took me 6months to get used to.
How did I do it? I guess I forced myself to get accustomed with the gesture whenever I'm in an uncomfortable situation, situations when I'm most conscious about my body movement.

The next body language technique I'm trying to master is the 1sec smile....
Wish me luck..

Project MySecret

Project: My SecretLocker

Ask yourself...
Are u happy?
Are you proud of who you are?
Do people know the real you..
or just the mask you hide behind??

Each person has the right to feel safe and to feel confident in their own individuality, nobody likes to be judge. We all seek comfort in the ones we love for who we are "with no strings attached" creating environments for ourselfs and others which reinforce the fact the people should be loved no mater who they are is a value...all too often neglected.

This causes people to shut the world out of part of their lives which could be perceived negatively by others.
These parts of ourselves...Our secret...represent our self-esteem's best defence against poor self-concept a part of ourselves which remains uncharted & free of having been judged.

Just a nose ahead

All it takes to be successful is 'just a nose ahead'.
By just being a lil bit better than the best, you will be the best.

I remember this story from a book.
I can't recall the book title nor the author's name.
Anyway the concept goes something like this:

Racing horses. Anyone who has been to a horse race knows that it is an extremely competitive race. Heck, even a fast-speed camera is needed at the finish line to determine the winning horse.
The 1st prize for the winning horse: $25,000.
The 2nd prize: $5,000.
If you ask me, I'd say that the difference between 1st prize and 2nd prize is a huge leap. Imagine that, A 500% difference saperating the 1st and the 2nd.
But hey, does that mean that the 1st horse is 5times faster than the 2nd horse??
Or it is 5times stronger than the 2nd??
Does it get fed 5times more nutritional food as compared to the 2nd?
Is the jockey 5times more skilled than the 2nd jockey??

I don't think so.
All it needs to be the winning horse is 'just a nose ahead' from the 2nd horse. JUST A NOSE AHEAD. The 1st doesn't necessarily have to run 5times faster to claim the 1st prize. All it needs to do is just to be a nose ahead...
That is why the fast-speed camera is there...to judge which horse has its nose in front of the other. (Well, I guess having a long nose can be beneficiary after all. But thats not the main point.)
The main point is:
All it takes to be better than anyone else is just to be a lil bit better.

Skip a meal

There is this awareness going around in Malaysia.
It's called "Skip-a-meal".
Why is it called "Ship-a-meal"??
That's because the concept behind it is that, you skip a meal, and you donate whatever you save from that process to the 'World Vision Malaysia Children's Development Fund.'
Yes, its for a great cause, reducing poverty and hunger.
I like this awareness. The line is catchy. Well, at least it got my attention..

Hhhmm...I was thinking to myself:
Nice..Great...Good idea....Cool....Brilliant!!!
But WAIT....What if its another worthy awareness by the same group who thought this one up?? Lets just say this time it's for blood donation.
I guess the motto will be "Slash yourself! Donate Blood!" or something like that.
Wouldn't that be freaky??

Let's get back to the topic.
In that particular site, if you navigate through the site looking for more info as how you can help out, it did mention somewhere in between that:
"Individuals can either Choose a meal to skip (or have a lighter meal)"
Isn't it better to change that line to: "Individuals can either Choose to have a lighter meal (or skip a meal)"
I mean shouldn't they make 'have a lighter meal' a higher priority than 'skip a meal'??
'Have a lighter meal' is a much better option than 'skip a meal', isn't it?
Trust me, you don't want to have gastric.

Anyhow, if you can help out in anyway, please do...
It's for the good of the community.
We all like some good to happen to us, don't we?? Let's give some 'goodness' to someone who deserves it more.
